The Faculty leadership comprises the Dean, Vice-Deans and the Secretary General.

The Faculty has four Vice-Deans:
Vice-Dean for Education,
Vice-Dean for Science and Research,
Vice-Dean for International Cooperation,
Vice-Dean for Student Affairs.

The first three Vice-Deans are from among higher education teachers, while the forth Vice-Dean comes from the ranks of successful students.

ACADEMIC ASSEMBLY
The Academic Assembly is the highest body of the Faculty, operating on the basis of academic freedom and democratic expression of the opinions and viewpoints of its members.

It consists of all higher education teachers, scientific staff, higher education associates and students’ representatives elected by the Student Council of the FT, so that their number represents at least one fifth of the members of the Academic Assembly. 

Also involved in the work of the Academic Assembly are other FT employees, representing at least one fifth of the members of the Academic Assembly.
The formal powers of the Academic Assembly include:
electing members of the Faculty’s Senate;
managing the procedure of selecting candidates running for the position of Dean, who are later proposed to the Faculty’s Senate;
handling and adoption of the Faculty’s development programme;
considering reports on the work of the member, providing suggestions and initiatives to the Faculty’s Senate;
performing other tasks stipulated by the Statute of the University of Maribor or legislation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Marko Koščak acts as Chair of the Academic Assembly.

MANAGEMENT BOARD

The Faculty’s Management Board oversees the member faculty’s material operations with regard to decisions made by the Dean concerning the management and disposal of funds acquired in legal transactions on their own behalf and on their own account.

DEAN

The Dean is the professional head of the Faculty.

They represent and lead the Faculty of Tourism, and decide on its operations. They organise, manage and coordinate the educational, scientific and research as well as other work, make sure the work is conducted lawfully, attend to the financial operations of the Faculty, convene Senate sessions, decide on employment issues and perform other tasks in accordance with the law, other regulations, the Statute and other general acts of the University.

The Dean is answerable for their work to the Rector, the Senate of the Faculty of Tourism and the Academic Assembly of the Faculty of Tourism. The Dean is appointed by the Rector of the University on the proposal of the Faculty’s Senate for a 4-year mandate.

STUDENT COUNCIL

To discuss and decide on study-related issues that are important to students, the Faculty of Tourism has a Student Council. The FT Student Council comprises presidents of each study year and one Council/Graduate Council member of each study year, and the representative of the Council of Postgraduate Students, who are each elected from among its members.
The mandate of members of the Faculty’s Student Council and the mandate of students elected or appointed by the Student Council of the Faculty is one year.

The Student Vice-Dean is a member of the Student Council by virtue of their position.

strategic council 

The Strategic Council is an advisory body of the Faculty of Tourism, University of Maribor. Its purpose is to bring together representatives of the business community with representatives of other organisations active in tourism, as well as researchers and teachers. The Strategic Council represents stakeholders in forming staff in a professional field, who advise the Faculty on designing study programmes (objectives, competences and learning outcomes that suit the needs of jobs in a professional field).
The Strategic Council represents our confidential advisers who help the Faculty by analysing the market and employment needs, detecting issues and identifying research topics (e.g. for final theses and projects), participate in practical training, project applications, forming various programmes and workshops, providing expert lecturers, references, etc.
