International Experts on the Future of Tourism and Education: Join Us at TEDU25

The Faculty of Tourism at the University of Maribor is organizing the international scientific conference Transforming Tourism and Hospitality through Education (TEDU25), which will take place from 14 to 16 May 2025 at Terme Čatež. The event will bring together domestic and international experts in the fields of tourism, education, and sustainable development.

The conference will feature renowned speakers from around the globe, including:

  • Prof. John Tribe (York St John University & University of Surrey, UK), one of the most influential authors in tourism education,
  • Prof. Hazel Tucker (University of Otago, New Zealand), an internationally recognized researcher on the social impacts of tourism,
  • and many other scholars and professionals from Slovenia and abroad.

We warmly invite you to a special round table discussion on Thursday, 15 May 2025 at 3 PM, which will focus on the future of tourism education. Special emphasis will be placed on micro-credentials as a tool for upskilling tourism professionals and their potential in addressing current labor market challenges.

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marjetka Rangus, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, University of Maribor.

    The discussion will be moderated by Stu Hayes from the University of Otago (New Zealand).

The conference aims to provide a platform for reflection on meaningful, sustainable, and adaptable education for the future of tourism – with a strong focus on knowledge transfer between academia and industry, development of green skills, and collaborative efforts to address contemporary challenges in tourism and hospitality.
