RESEARCH FIELD

My research focuses on how humans (tourists/consumers) make sense of their lived experiences, and how planetary wellbeing can be enhanced through concepts such as One Health, slow adventure, natural selfness, and forest bathing (shinrin-yoku). I primarily explore embodied experiences using qualitative, ethnographic methodologies and phenomenological philosophy to critically investigate bodily presence, sensory engagement, memory, and reflection within tourism contexts.

TEACHING APPROACH

My teaching philosophy is grounded in relational and dialogic practices that value learning as a co-created process. I strive to build a supportive and reflexive learning environment where students feel seen, heard, and encouraged to bring their experiences into conversation with theory. Feedback plays a central role in my approach; not as one-way evaluation, but as an ongoing dialogue that guides critical thinking, nurtures confidence, and deepens understanding. I use participatory and inquiry-based methods, inviting students to question, reflect, and co-construct knowledge. Through fostering trust and curiosity, I aim to cultivate learners who are not only academically capable but also ethically and relationally engaged in the worlds they study and shape.

PERSONAL DESCRIPTION

I currently hold position as Lecturer and researcher at Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Previously I was appointed as Lecturer and Programme Leader for the BA in Hospitality Management at the University of Greenwich in London, Head of the Tourism Product Development Sector at the Tourism Organisation of Novi Sad in Serbia, Programme Leader for the MSc Ecotourism course at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland, and Lecturer at the Faculty of Sport and Tourism in Serbia.

At BUas, I have been an active member of the research group Tourism Impacts on Society. I have been involved in the Adventure Tourism Research Association as a steering group member and have coordinated the annual International Adventure Conference since 2015. I actively contribute to research in tourism and outdoor recreation as a member of the Editorial Board and Social Media Editor for the Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning, and as Associate Editor for Academica Turistica – Tourism and Innovation Journal. I am also a certified Forest Wellness Mediator and active member of Forest Therapy South Eastern Europe.
