RESEARCH FIELD
The central field of my research is related to sustainable strategic development of rural destinations and protected areas, as well as networking of providers into homogeneous chains for creative thinking and raising competencies (training and consulting) in creating an attractive, sustainable, tailor-made offer for identified target groups of tourists. I pay special attention to the quality of the offer certified by territorial collective brands. Short supply chains from “field to plate” encourage the sale of offerings with local added value, not only by the gastronomic providers but also at local points of sale, which encourages local consumption. This proved to be extremely important during the coronavirus pandemic. I also actively participate in the Tourism 4.0 project.

TEACHING APPROACH
Working with students is a big challenge and an important mission for me. Theoretical starting points in lectures are enriched by the transfer of examples of good practice from the business world also by invited lecturers from business and public institutions. Individual work, work in pairs and in teams strengthens students' competencies by solving concrete problems and critically studying the multiplicative effects of comprehensive planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, as well as upgrading the development of sustainable destinations. As part of seminars and field trips, students solve real problems in the tourism industry. Through the variety of study tools, they gain experience and references, which prepare them for their business life. The topics of diploma and master's theses comprehensively cover scientific research areas, whose solutions are reflected in complex systems, models and guidelines that make a decisive contribution to research activities and greater competitiveness of the tourism industry.
PERSONAL DESCRIPTION
Tourism and gastronomy have been a part of my everyday life since I was a child, as I come from a gastronomic family. The constant upgrading of professional and scientific competencies in the field of tourism and related activities has led me from teaching in secondary educational level all the way to university. I have built my business career by spreading my knowledge in the field of tourist guidance, as I am the author of programs for tourist guides, especially in the connection with protected nature. As a member of the commission in the field of Tourism within the project "Youth for the Progress of Maribor", I monitor the creativity of young primary and secondary school students. In the business world, I work in the field of management and participation in the research and consulting projects, as well as projects with a direct impact on the economy. I study the areas of sustainable development of socially responsible destinations and their stakeholders. According to the model 'Authentic from Slovenia', of which I am the author, twelve collective brands have been established in Slovenia. Under the patronage of ProVITAL d.o.o. I actively participate in the group for the development of Pohorje destination and lead the activities of the established brands.
